Bonjour,
My name is Lucia and I am living my experience as an Au Pair in Paris, France.
I arrived on the 1st of September, with a lot of nerves, without knowing a word of French, with doubts, but above all with desire and the only thing I want now is that the time doesn’t pass and the 1st of July arrives, when I must return to Spain.
The decision to become an Au Pair was quite sudden. It was clear to me that when I finished high school I wanted to do a GAP-Year, as I wasn’t (and still am) not sure what to study at university. So for me this year would serve to clarify that doubt, to grow personally, to learn a new language and to travel.
In my plans, being an Au Pair was just an excuse to be able to travel and live in another country for a year, but now I wouldn’t change that decision for anything in the world.
Being an au pair is one of the best things that has ever happened to me, I feel at home with my family and at the same time it is a wonderful experience to get to know the children and the parents more and more every day.
At first I thought that my relationship with the family would be more serious and distant, but nothing could be further from the truth. They have welcomed me as a member of the family and have done everything possible to make me feel comfortable and happy. I couldn’t be happier with my family, even though I am so far away from home I feel at home.
On the other hand, I want anyone who is hesitating to travel to France to do so without thinking twice. Paris, in particular, leaves you speechless, but I have also had the opportunity to travel around the country to different cities and each and every one of them has its own charm, despite the stereotype, the French are very friendly people, very talkative and funny too!!!!
As for my life here in Paris, I can only say that it is a dream. Partly thanks to my family and friends (who are definitely a big part of my life in Paris and without them this experience would not be the same), partly thanks to the city itself and partly thanks to Kidowe for helping me, supporting me and caring so much about me.
So I would definitely recommend both this agency and this experience to everyone.
